Adrián Martínez

Laboratory Assistant

Adrian Martínez holds a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Universidad Anáhuac Cancún, where he graduated with honors. His academic training focused on molecular biology, culminating in his thesis work conducted at the Centro de Investigación Científica de Yucatán (CICY), where he performed the first study of its kind in Mexico on the genotyping of Norovirus GII, contributing to the understanding of viral diversity in environmental samples.

He has developed strong technical expertise in molecular and cellular biology, including PCR, bacterial cloning, transformation, and cell culture techniques acquired through specialized training. This provides him with a solid foundation in laboratory workflows, aseptic technique, and experimental design.

Adrian currently serves as a Laboratory Technician in the Flow Cytometry Laboratory at Immunocine Cancer Center in Cancún. In this role, he is responsible for the processing and preparation of clinical samples for immunophenotyping, with a particular focus on peripheral blood and dendritic cells. His work supports immune monitoring in patients undergoing immunotherapy, ensuring consistency and reliability in sample handling and analysis.

In addition to his laboratory experience, Adrian has contributed to environmental research related to the Yucatán Peninsula aquifer through his work with Centinelas del Agua, broadening his perspective on the intersection between environmental and human health.
