Derek Saunders

Mr. Saunders is an experienced attorney and entrepreneur. Mr. Saunders has counseled and advise hundreds of development stage companies in several industries and had been a principal and executive a number as well. Currently, Mr. Saunders is the principal of Biz Law Saunders and serves as General Counsel to Immunocine LLC, a cancer treatment firm brining revolutionary immunotherapy to cancer patients unable to participate in ongoing FDA clinical trials. Mr. Saunders also serves as General Counsel to UltraSafe Water Solutions, which is commercializing breakthrough water treatment technology for viruses, pharmaceuticals and microplastics. Previously to his current engagements, Mr. Saunders was Managing Attorney at L&F Brown, P.C., a law firm formed to serve the entrepreneurial community. Prior to that, he was Vice President and General Counsel at TruClear Water Solutions, Inc., a propriety developer and operator of water treatment systems. Other previous positions include Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Shoutz, Inc. and its subsidiary Playport Gaming Systems, Kansas City-based developers of mobile technology solutions for lotteries and casinos; founder and CEO of WaterTexas, an early, high-profile participant in private water rights transactions and water supply development in Texas, where he led the firms leasing activities that resulted in securing over 175,000 acre feet of water supply; Prickett & Saunders, PLLC, an Austin-based boutique law firm focused on counseling start-up and development stage companies; and attorney at Thompson & Knight (now Holland & Knight) in Dallas and Austin, working in their Corporate & Securities section. Mr. Saunders holds a B.A. in economics from Duke University and a J.D. from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, where he was an editor of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce.
