Three Years After Treatment Kevin Cox Remains Cancer-Free

Three years ago, Kevin was navigating one of the most uncertain times of his life. After a Stage 2C melanoma diagnosis and a recurrence that forced him to look beyond standard options, he made the decision to pursue treatment in Cancun. At the time, the focus was survival and response. Today, the focus is something entirely different. It is stability, family, and the quiet return to everyday life.

Initial Diagnosis

When Kevin was first diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma in 2022, his world shifted overnight. He initially followed the standard protocol. Surgeons removed the tumor, and he began treatment with Keytruda. For a short time, that seemed to be working. Then the cancer came back — aggressively. The only option presented to Kevin was to repeat surgery and “hope for different results.”

That didn’t sit right with him. He and his family began researching alternatives. That search eventually led them to Immunocine.

Living Without Ongoing Treatment

Kevin completed his treatment at Immunocine in June 2023. By September of that same year, his scans showed no evidence of disease. Today, that status remains unchanged and he has not required cancer treatment since early 2024. Outside of routine imaging every three to six months, his calendar is no longer shaped by appointments, infusions, or recovery days.

For someone who once had a rapidly growing, visible tumor, this stability is not something he takes lightly. What was once an aggressive diagnosis is now something that gets monitored, not managed.

Three years post-treatment, Kevin is not living in survival mode. He is simply living.

The Milestones That Matter Most

When Kevin was diagnosed, his daughter was only eight months old. At the time, he didn’t know if he would see her first day of school. This year, he walked her there himself. He has also taken his son to dirt bike camp and watched him complete his first race. A moment made even more meaningful by Kevin’s own love of motocross.

Cancer has a way of reframing what matters. These milestones may seem ordinary on paper, but for a father who once questioned whether he would be present for them, they carry profound weight.

From Patient to Advocate

Kevin remains under routine surveillance, undergoing scans every few months. To date, those scans continue to show no evidence of disease. Importantly, he is not on maintenance therapy. He is not navigating ongoing side effects. His life is not structured around treatment cycles.

Kevin is careful not to frame his story as a universal promise. Cancer remains complex, unpredictable, and deeply personal. But three years removed from treatment, his life stands as a testament to what long-term control can look like.

Perhaps most meaningfully, Kevin now uses his experience to encourage others navigating their own diagnosis. He understands the fear that follows the word “cancer,” and the overwhelming noise of treatment decisions. If his journey has taught him anything, it is that hope does not disappear simply because options seem limited. He believes patients deserve to know that outcomes can extend beyond survival. It’s possible to get your life back.

Looking Ahead

Three years later, Kevin is not defined by melanoma. He is defined by school drop-offs, race days, work projects, snow-filled Canadian winters, and family vacations. Cancer may be part of his history, but it no longer defines his present.

And for him, that is the real victory.
