Penny Daugherty, RN, MS, OCN, ONN-CG

Oncological Nurse
Penny, a Gynecologic Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN), brings vast experience to her role from her recent retirement at Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Atlanta, GA. In addition to working with Gynecologic patients, she also extended her services to Head and Neck cancer patients and others requiring ONN support.

Before this, Penny spent a decade as Clinical Research Director of Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology, where she took part in the National Oncology Nursing Society’s team to develop Core Competencies for Clinical Trial Nurses.

Penny is a founding member of the Cancer Patient Navigators of Georgia (2009), having co-chaired their annual conference alongside Georgia CORE since 2015. She currently also co-chairs the AONN+ Integrative Modalities Committee.

As the lead editor of the first two comprehensive textbooks on Oncology Nurse Navigation, “Oncology Nurse Navigation: Delivering Patient-Centered Care Across the Continuum,” and its companion book, “Oncology Nurse Navigation Case Studies,” Penny has significantly contributed to the field’s body of knowledge. She also wrote a chapter for the AONN+ textbook, “Team-Based Oncology Care: The Pivotal Role of Oncology Navigation.”
